Coverage Options
Annual policies provide continuous coverage for a full 12 months — ideal for residents, expats, retirees, and anyone who drives in Mexico regularly. Short-term policies cover a specific number of days or a defined trip, and are better suited for occasional visitors or tourists. If you live in or frequently visit Baja California, an annual policy is almost always the smarter and more economical choice.
Liability Only covers damage or injury you cause to third parties — other vehicles, people, and property. It does not cover your own vehicle.

Full Coverage adds protection for your own vehicle, including collision damage, theft, total loss, as well as extras like rental car reimbursement, hotel expenses, legal assistance, and roadside help. For most Baja residents driving their primary vehicle, Full Coverage is strongly recommended.
Coverage can be structured for all of Mexico, not just Baja California. If you plan to drive to mainland Mexico — whether for a road trip, to visit family, or for any other reason — let us know and we'll make sure your policy reflects your full travel area. Coverage for all 32 Mexican states is available.
Full Coverage policies through MexSure include roadside assistance valid throughout Mexico. This typically covers towing services, flat tire assistance, battery jump-start, fuel delivery, and lockout assistance. If you're stranded anywhere in Mexico, help is one call away — available in both English and Spanish.
Residents & Expats
As a full-time Baja resident with a U.S.-plated vehicle, an annual Full Coverage policy is exactly what you need. It provides uninterrupted protection for the entire year without the hassle of renewing every few days or weeks. It's also significantly more economical than purchasing multiple short-term policies. Many of our clients are retirees in Rosarito, Ensenada, and Tijuana — this is the most common policy we issue.
An annual policy is still the best choice for part-time Baja residents. The cost is typically very reasonable and eliminates any gap in coverage — you never have to worry about remembering to activate insurance before crossing the border. Whether you're in Baja one week or six months a year, you're covered automatically throughout the policy period.
MexSure specifically covers U.S.-plated vehicles — that's our specialty. You do not need to change your registration or plates to obtain coverage with us. Many long-term Baja residents continue to maintain their U.S. registration and plates; our policies are designed exactly for this situation.
Vehicles
We cover a wide range of U.S.-plated personal vehicles, including: cars, trucks, SUVs, crossovers, RVs, motorhomes, motorcycles, ATVs, and trailers. If you have a specialty vehicle or are unsure whether yours qualifies, contact us via WhatsApp and we'll confirm eligibility quickly.
Yes — many of our clients insure multiple vehicles. Each vehicle requires its own policy, but the process is just as fast and straightforward. Contact us and we'll handle all of them for you, whether it's two cars or a car and a motorhome.
Absolutely. RVs and motorhomes are among the most common vehicles we insure for long-term Baja stays. Annual policies are ideal for snowbirds and full-time RV residents. We'll make sure your coverage is appropriate for the vehicle's value and your travel area within Mexico.
Claims & Support
Stay calm and follow these steps: (1) Do not leave the scene. (2) Call the claims number printed on your policy card — Chubb's Mexico claims line is available 24/7. (3) Contact MexSure via WhatsApp and we will personally help guide you through the process in English. (4) Do not admit fault or sign any documents before speaking with your insurer. All claims must be reported and initiated before leaving Mexico.
Yes. One of the key reasons our clients choose MexSure is our bilingual support. If you have an accident or need to file a claim, you can contact us directly in English via WhatsApp and we will coordinate with Chubb on your behalf. You will never have to navigate a complex claims process in a second language alone.
Yes — this is critical. Mexican insurance policies require that claims be reported and initiated while you are still in Mexico. If you cross back into the U.S. before reporting an incident, your claim may be denied. Always contact the claims line immediately after any accident, regardless of how minor it seems.
Getting Insured
Most policies are issued in under 2 minutes once your quote is confirmed. The process is fully digital — you complete your information online, receive your quote, and your policy documents are sent directly to your email. There's no paperwork, no waiting, and no office visits required.
To generate your quote you'll typically need: your vehicle's make, model, year, and U.S. license plate number; the vehicle's approximate value; your name, email, and phone number; and your intended coverage area (Baja only or all of Mexico). The entire process takes just a few minutes.
Absolutely. If you're not sure whether you need annual or short-term, liability or full coverage, Baja-only or all-Mexico — Mia can walk you through your options via WhatsApp in plain English (or Spanish). We'll remind you before your policy expires so there's no gap in coverage. Renewal is just as fast as the original purchase — typically a few minutes online. Many of our clients have been renewing with us year after year, and we make it as seamless as possible.
